Over 100K Of Expired Donations Wasted By DSWD! READ HERE
The Department of Social Welfare is under fire today after they allegedly buried expired goods which haven’t been distributed as donations. Among these goods were sacks of rice and other various relief goods. The donations were disposed at Brgy. Candauay, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.
Regional Director of DSWD-NIR Shalaine Marie Lucero ordered that the tally of the buried goods be made public to the media. According to the reports, the donations have been expired last June 2 but have only been disposed recently, September 2.
DSWD’s excuse? They still had to coordinate with Dumaguete City’s Environment andNatural Resources Office (ENRO), the Department of Health (DOH), and the Commissionon Audit (COA).
Below is the breakdown of goods:
821 kilos of rice (Php20,525)
4,186 cans of sardines (Php42,697.20)
22,310 pieces of 3-in-1 coffee 20 gram-packs (worth Php100,395.00)
484 cans of beef loaf (Php7,139.00)
45 pcs of instant noodles 55 g packs (Php225)
The list totals into an estimate of Php170,981.20.
Meanwhile, DSWD Secretary Judy M. Taguiwalo apologized for the incident as it only reached her last October 2. She also promised that it will never happened again.
