Duterte About Bongbong Marcos: “Kung Hindi Siya Dinaya, Talagang Manalo Siya”

The plan of President Duterte to bury the remains of the late President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani was met by outrage from people who witnessed Martial Law, and from those who didn’t.


The President, however, does not believe that there are lingering anti-Marcos sentiments, most especially from the youth. He said, the late President’s son would have never garnered the votes he got if there are still a lot of anti-Marcos in our country.


“You know why hindi mag-abot ng milyon ‘yan (the anti-Marcos)? Tingnan mo pagtakbo ni Bongbong. Iilan diperensya lang sila, mga 200,000. Tapos sabihin ninyo na it’s still fresh. Even Bongbong Marcos sabi niya, dinaya siya. Baka. Kung hindi siya dinaya, talagang manalo siya,”

During the election, Marcos’ votes were leading the race until the latter part where Leni eventually won by 263,473 votes or 1.9% of the total. This is by far one of the closest electoral races in the country.


“The number is a very minimal, if it’s indication to you that there is no more such thing as a Marcos [trauma] just look at the results of the election. It will tell you that… si Leni is naghabol sila,”

A lot of people are questioning why Marcos will be buried in the Libingan ng mga Bayani and are questioning if he was indeed a hero. For that, the President has his answer, stating the he doesn’t care if Marcos was a hero, he has the right to be buried there as a soldier.


“Ngayon, sabi hindi siya hero. Who are we to say that? Wala naman tayong panahon na giyera eh. Who are we to dispute? Sa mga taong, opisyal nagbigay sa kanya ng medalya. So why are you insisting na hindi siya hero totoo. Hindi naman stupido yung mga tao, mga ospiyal nagbigay sa kanya ng—So that remains a question mark. If there’s a question mark. Then I decide in favor of the law,”


Based on the numbers of vote Bongbong received in the last elections, Duterte said that “almost half of the country says that he was a good president” especially Ilocanos who were being hurt by what was being done to their fellow Ilocano.

“So hindi nahe-heal ‘yung… Lahat ng Ilocano, sikreto lang, may galit ‘yan,” said Duterte.”
